The Downtown Lee's Summit Community Improvement District was established to provide funding for services and improvements within the established district.

Clean & Green

The District may provide, purchase, contract for, or implement services and improvements that contribute to the overall cleanliness, beautification, environmental sustainability, and safety of the public areas within the District.

Community Development

The District may purchase, contract for, or assist in implementing services and improvements that contribute to the promotion of the District's amenities or contribute to its economic vitality.

Capital Improvements

The District may provide, purchase, contract for, or implement services and improvements that contribute to the maintenance, sustainability, or expansion of District infrastructure or amenities.

 

The District may provide, purchase, contract for, or implement services and improvements that contribute to the overall cleanliness, beautification, environmental sustainability, and safety of the public areas within the District, including but not limited to:

  • litter control
  • weed abatement
  • sidewalk, curb, and street washing or sweeping
  • landscaping
  • general cleaning & beautification deemed pertinent or necessary

 

 
 

Petitioners recognize that other community organizations are and will be engaged in community development efforts within the District, and are typically better equipped to provide such services. The District will not engage in the same efforts, but will serve to enable initiatives which comport with the purposes of the District and the Act. The District may purchase, contract for, or assist in implementing services and improvements that contribute to the promotion of the District’s amenities or contribute to its economic vitality, including but not limited to:

  • provision of funds for marketing of investment opportunities, including but not limited to commercial, residential, and entrepreneurial
  • provision of funds for marketing of the District, including but not limited to historical, cultural, artistic, and commercial attractions or events
  • preparation and distribution of District information
  • provision of funds for market, niche, and business retention & expansion research or seminars
  • support of other economic development initiatives in general deemed pertinent or necessary

 

 
 

The District can serve a variety of roles in the provision of capital improvements within the District. It may initiate and fund smaller projects outright, or it may partner with other community groups to facilitate or enable larger projects. The District may provide, purchase, contract for, or implement services and improvements that contribute to the maintenance, sustainability, or expansion of District infrastructure or amenities, including but not limited to:

  • trash and recycling receptacles
  • bike racks
  • street furniture
  • flower urns or receptacles
  • directional and informational signage
  • banners and banner arms
  • public art
  • public facilities
  • general plans and studies
  • other infrastructure improvements or amenities deemed pertinent or necessary
